Christmas Event planning Tips: COOKING

If you are like me and have a large family hosting them can be challenging. Here are some tips for cooking for a large group that I have found really helpful.

1.Prepare: Prep work is the key for and event, the same applies for cooking. Check your recipes make sure you have all the ingredients. You can cut up some things the day before and store in the refrigerator. For example, peas could be burst, carrots for fry rice could be cut up, chicken seasoned, and even flour for a cake could be measured and placed in an air tight container before you start to bake.

      3. Clean your kitchen: I know it sounds funny but if your kitchen is not in order spending time looking for a utensil can take a lot of time. Also clean as you go if you start to clean and wash items as you use them it would save you a mountain of cleaning at the end when you are already tired.

3.       4.  Menu: Have a menu and stick to it. I can promise you once you decide to host, you would see hundreds of things you can do. Food network would show things you can cook or friends would call to give you new recipes. I recommend cook items that you already mastered and stick to your menu.

      5. Don’t overdo: Many times people try so hard to impress that they over cook and waste food. It is not necessary to have four different meats for one meal. If you desire to show others that you can cook well they would know by one good dish even if that is the only dish you can cook.

      6. Serving: This is a part that many people forget to look after. Plates, knives and forks are important for your guest to eat. Many people don’t really think of it and just end up using disposables.  Actually plates, glasses, knives and forks are very inexpensive to rent.
